About the role
- A Locomotive Electrician is responsible for inspecting, servicing, and maintaining diesel locomotive electrical systems in a fast paced, safety-oriented environment in compliance with regulatory standards.
- The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined and excels at complex troubleshooting.
- Most of the day could be spent standing on foot.
Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled electrical inspections in compliance with Company, Industry, and Federal standards.
- Perform maintenance and repairs.
- Will perform work on Railroad as directed.
Requirements

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform on uneven or slippery surfaces, platforms, ladders, and equipment in all weather and temperature conditions.
- Eye/hand coordination, hand/feet dexterity and grasping hand tools, materials & equipment is required.
- The employee is frequently required to perform manual labor & physical activities that require considerable use of the whole body, such as standing and lifting from various levels.
- Random, reasonable suspicion and post-accident testing may also be required throughout employment.
Nice to have
- Strong Electrical & Mechanical Background.
- Railroad experience is a plus.
- Experience with both AC and DC voltage systems.
- High integrity, ethics, and a positive work attitude
- Problem solving, oral & written communications, organizational and interpersonal skills, perception, creativity.
- Possess analytical and calculating ability.
- Journeyman Electrician is preferred, will consider those with diesel electrical experience or electrical experience and training with other types of machinery/truck or automotive
- Associate degree or diploma in electrical, mechanical, or automotive or any other related field of study from an accredited institution will be considered.
