About the role

  • Both levels are operational and analytical in nature, working primarily behind the scenes to ensure accuracy, compliance, and financial integrity.
  • At this time this role is anticipated to last 90 days, with the potential to be extended another 90 days.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and schedules.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field
  • Typically 2-3 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, AP/AR, payroll, or related financial roles.
  • Working knowledge of general ledger accounting and reconciliations.
  • Typically 3-5 years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
  • Experience working in a nonprofit organization, public agency, or other grant-funded environment.
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks accounting software.
  • Experience using ADP and/or Paylocity payroll systems.
  • Experience supporting audits or financial reviews in a behind-the-scenes capacity.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field; or any combination of education, training, and professional experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the role.
  • The Staff Accountant II operates with greater independence and complexity, requiring less routine oversight.
  • This level serves as a key accounting professional supporting the Controller and broader finance function.
  • Same education standard as Staff Accountant I.
  • Demonstrated experience producing financial statements, supporting grant accounting, and performing ledger reconciliations with minimal supervision.
  • Preferred Qualifications (Both Levels)
  • Strong Excel skills, including formulas, reconciliations, and data analysis.

Compensation

  • Assist in producing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for management and board review.
