Responsibilities

  • Handle delicate documents, film, and fiche with care and respect, ensuring preservation during the digitization process.
  • Collaborate with project managers, technical staff, and production team members to ensure high-quality digital outputs.
  • Maintain organized records of daily work and submit digitized files according to schedule and quality expectations.
  • Respect for Historical Materials: A deep appreciation for the fragility and significance of the documents being digitized, as well as adherence to proper handling protocols.

Requirements

  • Technical proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • A demonstrated interest in history, or genealogy, with a strong desire to learn digitization standards and preservation skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with on-site and remote teams.
  • Experience or training in careful handling of historical documents is strongly preferred.

Nice to have

  • This position is well-suited for those seeking to gain hands-on experience in the preservation field or for students looking to apply technical skills toward professional imaging and digitization.
  • While a background in history or archival studies is beneficial, the primary requirements are patience, strong attention to detail, and a proactive willingness to learn new workflows.

  • For a candidate with a steady hand and a commitment to quality, comprehensive training on all specialized equipment will be provided
  • This position is ideal for people who are passionate about family history, preservation, and digitization.
  • The position is part-time, Monday to Friday 9am-3pm, 30 hours a week and runs for one year. $16 per hour.
