About the role

  • The engineer contributes to the development and execution of capital investment strategies, asset management programs, and regulatory compliance initiatives, including Ontario Regulation 22/04.
  • Prepare plans, drawings, and engineering standards using AutoCAD software.

Responsibilities

  • The Power Distribution Engineer is responsible for the design, planning, and analysis of overhead and underground electrical distribution systems to support safe, reliable, and efficient utility operations.
  • This role reviews engineering drawings, prepares specifications, maintains and updates engineering standards, and conducts power system studies using advanced software tools.
  • Working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, the incumbent supports continuous improvement, evaluates new technologies, and ensures alignment with industry best practices and corporate objectives.
  • Review and provide comments on design drawings from Design Technicians/Technologists.
  • Prepare and maintain short-term and long-term system renewal Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) reports based on asset management data.
  • Assist in developing, documenting, and improving work processes.
  • Perform analysis, testing, and evaluations.

Requirements

  • What You Will Bring Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario with good standing is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a related field within the utility industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD.

  • Provide input in preparing annual budgets and underground/overhead capital investment strategies.
