Responsibilities

  • Maintain and build relationships with clients and agency counterparts
  • Manage NEPA compliance projects, including Environmental Impact Statements (EIS), Environmental Assessments (EA), and Categorical Exclusions (CE).
  • Serve as the environmental lead on major projects.
  • Develop and implement project plans, timelines, and budgets.
  • Prepare and review technical documents, reports, and presentations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, or a related field (master's degree desirable).
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in environmental planning and NEPA compliance.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing NEPA projects.
  • Experience working with local transportation agencies such as VDOT, DDOT, MDOT, and Prince George's, Montgomery, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William Counties.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple staff and projects simultaneously.
  • Prior team leadership/staff management experience is desirable

Nice to have

  • Professional certifications such as AICP, PWS, CPSEC, CEP, or PMP are a plus.

Compensation

  • $125,100.00 - $225,200.00

  • The successful candidate will lead and manage environmental projects and aspects of projects, ensuring compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and other relevant regulations.
  • This person will also assist in permit applications and monitoring for both design-bid-build and design-build projects, both big and small.
