About the role
- The Civil Construction Estimating Manager uses professional and technical knowledge in generating bids, while training and delegating various tasks to professional staff.
- S/he will recommend hires, raises and discipline.
Responsibilities
- o Explains and trains others on digital and printed plans, specifications and related construction documents
- o Explains and trains others on digital and printed plans, specifications and related construction documents; linear, area and volumetric take-off; methods; analysis; software utilization.
- o Effectively builds and maintains client relationships with clients, as well as with vendors and subcontractors.
- o Partners with clients and provides preliminary site alternatives and budgeting.
- o Manages own time and that of subordinates.
- o Trains, manages, develops her/his team.
- o Reads and understands digital and printed plans, specifications, and related documents.
- o Performs quantity take-offs (volumetric, linear, area) from plans for earthwork and utilities.
- o Collects and reviews pricing from vendors and subcontractors, making initial decisions on construction partners (vendors/subcontractors); applies knowledge of regulations and requirements to verify subcontractor and vendor compliance with specifications/plans.
Requirements
- 4-year degree in civil engineering or construction management + 5 years of civil construction estimating and/or engineering experience + 1 year of supervisory experience in heavy civil construction.
- A satisfactory background check may be required.
