About the role

- You will be a core member of a small, high-impact engineering group embedded within a broader team of quants, analysts, traders, and deal desk professionals.
- This role will work directly with the trading desk.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain risk and analytics solutions for the Power and Gas desk using Python on top of Beacon Platform
- Collaborate with other Beacon engineers within the team to ensure consistency, code quality, and shared best practices
- Solid understanding of quantitative modelling concepts - you will not be building models yourself, but you will be integrating them and need to understand what they do
Skills
- Strong Python development skills
- Experience with Apache Kafka is a plus
- Good knowledge of commodities markets, with a preference for US power and gas (both physical and paper)
- Familiarity with instruments such as heat rate options, gas storage products, PPAs, and tolling agreements is highly desirable
- Confident and resilient under pressure - comfortable receiving direct, candid feedback and using it constructively
- Able to present and explain technical approaches clearly to a mixed audience
- Self-sufficient and delivery-focused; this is not a role with heavy management oversight
- Reports directly to the Global Head, Gas, Power & Renewables Technology
