About the role

  • Administer speech therapy treatments as prescribed by a referring physician in an effort to restore function and prevent disability.
  • Assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities.
  • Family is included in teaching as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates a commitment to patient safety and quality through maintenance of a safe environment, providing assistance to patients and visitors and support of safe practices.
  • Performs an appropriate assessment on patients as related to therapy requested with reassessment and documentation on progress toward goals per policy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) Graduate of an accredited school of Speech Therapy or graduate of accredited college or University Required
  • Speech Language Pathologist Upon Hire Required
  • Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities.
  • Knowledge of human behavior and performance
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
  • Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter - Iowa Department of Human Services within 90 Days Required
  • Child Abuse Iowa Mandatory Reporter - Iowa Department of Human Services within 90 Days Required
  • American Heart Association Upon Hire Required
  • Iowa Department of Human Services within 90 Days Required

  • 1-3 years health care experience Preferred
  • Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug and interactions, and preventive health-care measures.

Compensation

  • Attends meetings and completes annual trainings as required and maintains general knowledge of budget and stewardship.
