About the role

  • The Chaplain provides professional and competent spiritual care ministry and is responsible for serving the spiritual, religious, and emotional needs of others in inpatient, outpatient, and community settings.
  • As a member of the healthcare team, the chaplain is directly responsible for the implementation of the mission, values, policies, and procedures of the Department of Spiritual Health Services and the facility in which they serve.
  • Provide spiritual care that respects diversity and differences, including but not limited to culture, gender, sexual orientation, and spiritual/religious practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide effective spiritual support and appropriate religious/spiritual resources that contribute to the well-being of care recipients, their families, and caregivers.
  • Triage and manage crises in the practice of spiritual care.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships, including collaborative relationships with community clergy and faith group leaders.

  • The demands of this role necessitate a team member to effectively perform essential functions, including regular standing, walking, and manual dexterity, with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Requirements

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in Theology, Ministry, Counseling, Psychology, Divinity, or a related field.
  • National Chaplain Certification: Required within three (3) years of hire.

Nice to have

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Completion of at least one (1) unit of accredited CPE (4 units preferred).
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and one (1) unit of accredited CPE for Providence at Home roles.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in the provision of spiritual/pastoral support to individuals or families required.
  • One (1) year of experience related to loss, grief, bereavement, or trauma preferred.
  • Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations
  • Preferred: Master's degree in a related field.
  • Required: Completion of at least one (1) unit of accredited CPE (4 units preferred).
