About the role

  • The Associate Teacher assists the teachers and/or Center Director and assumes responsibility for general supervision, development and education of children at our Toyon Center which provides a unique Dual Language Immersion EHS program with an emphasis on Environmental Education programming. EHS is a federally funded school readiness and family support program for low-income and special needs children that promotes parents/guardians as the primary educator of the child.

Responsibilities

  • In this Dual Language Immersion center you will be a language model as assigned by program design.
  • Develops and assists in planning, preparing and implementing lesson plans to execute current program goals in both indoor and outdoor environment curriculum.
  • Performs primary caregiving responsibilities.
  • Opportunities to connect with and learn from colleagues and partners around the world

Requirements

  • Attends required classroom, center, and organization meetings.

Nice to have

  • Minimum Associate Teacher Permit or higher credential
  • 1 year prior experience in working with young children is preferred
  • Bi-Literate in Spanish (required) and/or Mandarin, Vietnamese (preferred)
  • Immunization records that comply with SenateBill 792 (immunity for measles, pertussis, and influenza)
  • Required CPR/First Aid Training Certification
  • Required to be a mandated abuse reporter
  • Additional Requirements
  • Must pass background fingerprint clearance
