About the role

  • The Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic is a pivotal role, responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and executing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs on various heavy equipment in the field.
  • Whitaker, an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) company, has become one of the largest contractors in the intermountain area with more than 600 employees and nearly 70 crews.
  • Roles and Responsibilities: Including but not limited to the list below Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues in heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and rebuild diverse construction machinery.
  • Document work orders, warranty information, and maintain accurate time sheets.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a heavy equipment mechanic or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in safely operating and diagnosing various equipment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft products, smartphones, and iPads.
  • Proficiency in Web based parts catalogs and ordering
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • High School Diploma or GED; vocational training preferred.
  • Class A or Class B CDL and valid Medical Card per DOT standards are required.
  • Ability to manage personal tools and parts inventory.
  • Strong comprehension of technical manuals, schematics, and drawings.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent communication skills.
  • Eagerness to learn and a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Team player and Safety cutler minded in daily work activities

Nice to have

  • High School Diploma or GED
