About the role

  • Job Description: The Clinical Pharmacist provides specialized pharmaceutical services to improve drug usage and therapeutic outcomes for patients.
  • When applicable, the Clinical Pharmacist will participate in development of new programs, services, practices, and facilitate scholarly and professional development activities.
  • Ensures that all activities are consistent with overall hospital objectives.

Responsibilities

  • The Clinical Pharmacist will participate in the design, implementation, and monitoring associated with the provision of safe, effective and economical pharmacotherapy for all patients.

Requirements

  • Graduated from an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy (required)
  • Licensed or license eligible as a pharmacist in the Commonwealth of Kentucky (required)
  • Current board certification by Board of Pharmacy Specialties® or within 2 years from date of hire (required)
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support or must obtain within 90 days from date of hire (required)
  • Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support or must obtain within 90 days from date of hire (required)

Nice to have

  • Post-Graduate Year 1 (PGY-1) Pharmacy Residency or three (3) years of relevant work experience (required)
  • Post-Graduate Year 2 (PGY-2) Pharmacy Residency preferred

Skills

  • Provides guidance and supervision to certified pharmacy technicians
  • Precepts pharmacy students during IPPE and APPE rotations as necessary
  • Precepts PGY1 residents and
  • Precepts PGY2 residents, as qualified by ASHP standards
  • Participates in staff development (preceptor development/continuing education) for all pharmacy learners within area of expertise
  • Participates in departmental research efforts
  • Actively participates in local, regional, or national organizations in area of expertise
  • Functions as a role model and as an educational resource for pharmacy staff
  • Assists with recruitment and orientation of new staff members
  • Investigates and resolves pharmacy management software-related issues
  • Covers assigned shifts as determined by departmental need
  • Utilizes advanced communication skills to convey and demonstrate clinical pharmacist expertise
