About the role
- Job Description: The Clinical Pharmacist provides specialized pharmaceutical services to improve drug usage and therapeutic outcomes for patients.
- When applicable, the Clinical Pharmacist will participate in development of new programs, services, practices, and facilitate scholarly and professional development activities.
- Ensures that all activities are consistent with overall hospital objectives.
Responsibilities
- The Clinical Pharmacist will participate in the design, implementation, and monitoring associated with the provision of safe, effective and economical pharmacotherapy for all patients.
Requirements
- Graduated from an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy (required)
- Licensed or license eligible as a pharmacist in the Commonwealth of Kentucky (required)
- Current board certification by Board of Pharmacy Specialties® or within 2 years from date of hire (required)
- Current certification in Basic Life Support or must obtain within 90 days from date of hire (required)
- Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support or must obtain within 90 days from date of hire (required)
Nice to have
- Post-Graduate Year 1 (PGY-1) Pharmacy Residency or three (3) years of relevant work experience (required)
- Post-Graduate Year 2 (PGY-2) Pharmacy Residency preferred
Skills
- Provides guidance and supervision to certified pharmacy technicians
- Precepts pharmacy students during IPPE and APPE rotations as necessary
- Precepts PGY1 residents and
- Precepts PGY2 residents, as qualified by ASHP standards
- Participates in staff development (preceptor development/continuing education) for all pharmacy learners within area of expertise
- Participates in departmental research efforts
- Actively participates in local, regional, or national organizations in area of expertise
- Functions as a role model and as an educational resource for pharmacy staff
- Assists with recruitment and orientation of new staff members
- Investigates and resolves pharmacy management software-related issues
- Covers assigned shifts as determined by departmental need
- Utilizes advanced communication skills to convey and demonstrate clinical pharmacist expertise
