Responsibilities

  • AECOM is actively seeking a motivated, creative, highly talented Structural Engineer Discipline Lead with experience in the dams and hydraulics structures to join the West Region Dams Team.
  • The dams and reservoirs team within the Water Business Line is responsible for providing engineering and design services in support of multidisciplinary projects, with a focus on water storage and hydropower dam projects.
  • The candidate for this position will report to the AECOM Orange office and support work across southern California, Arizona, and Utah.
  • Lead the technical execution of projects including structural stability and strength analyses, structural design, and regulatory compliance activities associated with a variety of hydraulic concrete structures such as spillways, outlet works, and other site civil structures.
  • Incorporate innovation in design and delivery, and support groups of engineers, designers and/or specialists with development of structural design documents and contract deliverables.
  • Ensure structural designs are completed in accordance with contractual obligations, applicable standards, and design documents, and confirm review and approval have been completed prior to release to client.
  • Lead responses to client's comments on structural design elements of the deliverables.
  • Interface with project teams, clients, and subcontractors through progression of the design deliverables.
  • Manage budgets, provide client updates, and perform general project management tasks. Anticipate potential budget and schedule impacts and initiate plans for alternative actions.
  • Train, mentor, and develop staff, and support career growth opportunities for staff.

Nice to have

  • 10+ years of related engineering experience
  • Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
