About the role

The SVP, Senior Corporate Counsel (SCC) will fulfill a wide variety of duties and responsibilities that affect every department of Libertas.
These will include advising on new laws, existing laws, and legal issues that would impact the functionality and operations of the business.
They will provide educated legal advice to senior management, board members, and other executives on various legal matters and instruct them on how to remain compliant with current corporate laws.

Lead on all contractual negotiations with clients and referral sources in the small business and commercial middle market sector
Reviewing any key firm wide documents before they are signed.
Keeping a record of all legal documents and proceedings for the company
Leads engagement and communication with securitization and any other debt facility legal counterparts including Libertas outside counsel
Communicating with strategic partner's legal counsel.
Advising on strategic initiatives, drafting term sheets and other documents as appropriate.
The SCC will be responsible for overseeing all legal matters of the business as a whole and will maintain the company's legal documents.

Strong Knowledge of commercial lending space with prior experience at a bank, private equity or law firm supporting the commercial finance sector
Broad knowledge of all aspects of the legal field, including litigations, private debt, corporate law, and labor law.
Broad experience in contract drafting and negotiation.
Broad range of relevant legal experience, including the ability to identify, prioritize and resolve critical legal issues in real time.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage a high-volume workload.
Superior communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
Sound and practical business judgment.
Comfortable in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Adaptable and responsive to changing business priorities.
Ability to self-manage tasks, set priorities, and multi-task.
Strong technology skills, with experience and a strong interest in utilizing technology to improve ways of working.
Education/Experience:

Member of the Connecticut State Bar or willing to become Connecticut Authorized In- House Counsel.
JD degree and BA/BS degree
Experience in commercial lending and small business finance.
Prior experience negotiating intercreditor and subordination agreements
Bankruptcy experience is highly preferred
