About the role
- If you're excited about disrupting legacy industries, and passionate about motor control technology, let's chat!
Responsibilities
- Process Development: Create, document, and continuously improve manufacturing processes, work instructions, and assembly procedures for electromagnetic actuators, gearboxes, and avionics enclosures.
- DFM/DFA Advocacy: Partner with mechanical design engineers from early concept stages to drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA), reducing cost and cycle time without compromising performance.
- Tooling & Fixtures: Design and procure production tooling, jigs, and fixtures to enable repeatable, high-quality assembly of precision mechanisms including gears, bearings, lead screws, braking systems, and encoders.
- Supply Chain & Quality: Collaborate closely with external suppliers and machine shops to qualify vendors, review first articles, and manage non-conformances and manufacturing deviations to maintain rigorous quality standards.
- work with design teams to ensure GD&T callouts per ASME Y14.5 are manufacturable and inspection-ready.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions (RCCA) for production escapes
- implement lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and improve throughput.
- You will be a critical link between design and the shop floor, ensuring parts are built right, on time, and at scale.
- GD&T & Drawing Review: Interpret and redline 2D engineering drawings; work with design teams to ensure GD&T callouts per ASME Y14.5 are manufacturable and inspection-ready.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions (RCCA) for production escapes; implement lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and improve throughput.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- ability to read, interpret, and provide feedback on complex 2D drawings.
- Familiarity with AS9100, FAIR/PPAP processes, and inspection methodologies including CMM and functional gauging.
- Ability to go play any position on the field and cover the gaps you see opening
- Hands-on production experience with precision gearboxes, including lubrication processes, backlash measurement, and AGMA-compliant inspection.
- CAD Proficiency: Working knowledge of SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD tools for reviewing designs and creating manufacturing aids.
Nice to have
- Test Equipment: Experience designing or procuring custom test fixtures and writing formal inspection/test procedures.
- Gearbox & Drivetrain: Hands-on production experience with precision gearboxes, including lubrication processes, backlash measurement, and AGMA-compliant inspection.
- Lean/Six Sigma: Formal training or certification in lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
- 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in a precision, low-to-mid volume production environment, ideally in aerospace, defense, or industrial automation.
Benefits
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
