About the role

  • The Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene (WSLH) serves as the public, environmental, and occupational health laboratory for the State of Wisconsin.
  • WSLH is a public sector entity, under the umbrella of the University of Wisconsin.
  • This position works under the general direction of the Director of the Office of Information Systems (OIS).

Responsibilities

  • May perform manager functions
  • Participate in development efforts to support the organization and assist the development
  • May develop and audit the unit budget and/or financials
  • Develops operating policies and procedures to comply with regulations, institutional policies, and unit objectives
  • May perform manager functions - 10%
  • Participate in development efforts to support the organization and assist the development - 20%
  • May develop and audit the unit budget and/or financials - 5%

Requirements

  • 10 years of on-the-job programming experience.
  • Working knowledge and experience with Java or similar development languages and IDE's
  • Working knowledge and experience with Oracle and SQL Server databases and advanced SQL skillset, including database design
  • Ability to continuously sit or stand at a computer terminal using a keyboard and mouse, viewing computer monitor(s) for extended periods up to 8 hours with breaks

Nice to have

  • 5 years of staff supervision.
  • Working knowledge and experience with DevOps, i.e. the usage/implementation of tools and methods for Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) and automated testing
  • Experience managing projects tasks, estimating timelines, and monitoring task progress
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, preferred.

Compensation

  • Minimum Salary $117, 500/year.
  • Salary to be determined upon hire.
