Responsibilities
- The Philadelphia Virtual Academy (PVA) Check & Connect Intervention Specialist is responsible for implementing the evidence-based Check & Connect student engagement model to support at-risk students.
- The Intervention Specialist works collaboratively with families, teachers, and support staff to foster longterm student success and program retention.
Skills
- Excellent relational, communication (oral and written), and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt to organizational, system, and developmental changes with assistance from supervisor and/or colleagues.
- Experience working with at-risk youth or implementing student intervention strategies in an educational setting is preferred.
- Experience managing virtual communication channels or operating within online learning environments is preferred.
- Philadelphia residency is preferred due to the school-based nature of the position.
- CREDENTIALS: (Clearances current within 11 months) * Paid clearances & TB screening!
- $19.40 per hour
- Systematically track student engagement indicators, including online attendance, course progression, and credit accrual ("Check").
- Establish consistent communication loops with families and caregivers to discuss student progress and address barriers to engagement.
- De-escalate and troubleshoot student disengagement trends, escalating critical concerns to appropriate PVA staff members.
- Provide proactive guidance regarding school procedures, expectations, and virtual navigation.
- Assist with virtual events, student orientations, family information sessions, and connection initiatives.
