The broader Travel group covers a lot of ground, and one of your first and most important tasks is to help shape this team's mandate within that bigger picture - what it owns, where its boundaries sit, and where it should focus to have the most impact.
You'll set the technical and product direction for the team, ship a competitive customer-facing product, and build the culture from day one.
Because the domain is new and the roadmap is yours to shape, product judgment matters as much as technical judgment here - you'll be making real calls about what to build and why, not just executing a handed-down plan.
Help define and continually sharpen the team's mandate within the broader Travel group - what it owns, where its boundaries sit, and where it should focus.
Set the team's technical and product direction, making thoughtful tradeoffs about what to build, in what order, and why.
Partner cross-functionally across Travel, Expenses, and Product to align on scope and delivery.

Strong product sense - the ability to make and defend product and UX tradeoffs, not just technical ones.
Experience standing up a new team or product area from scratch.

The expected salary range for this role is $240,000 CAD - $300,000 CAD.
However, the starting base pay will depend on a number of factors including the candidate's location, skills, experience, market demands, and internal pay parity.
Depending on the position offered, equity and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package.
As a perk, we also have up to four weeks per year of fully remote work!

We're building a new team within Brex's Travel group to own a defined part of our next-generation travel experience, and we're looking for the Engineering Manager to build and lead it.
