About the role

The Washington County Juvenile Department is seeking a Bilingual Victim Services Advocate.
The Victim Services unit works within the Juvenile Department located in downtown Hillsboro, Oregon.
This role will offer culturally competent services to Spanish-speaking victims, including some translation of spoken and written materials.

The position provides notification, information, support, assistance and community referrals to victims of juvenile crime in a compassionate, responsive manner in order to promote a meaningful role throughout the juvenile justice process.
Have strong interpersonal communication skills with proven ability to speak publicly and collaborate with system partners.
Support monolingual and bilingual victims of juvenile crime by providing advocacy, case updates, emotional support, and referrals throughout the justice process.
Maintain accurate documentation, provide post-adjudication notifications, collaborate with treatment providers, and promote restorative practices.
Deliver community outreach, participate in professional development, support a positive and inclusive workplace culture, and provide translation services as needed.
Our team works collaboratively with families, schools, law enforcement, and community partners to create individualized interventions that support long-term success.

Master's degree in counseling, psychology, sociology, social work, or a field applicable to the practice of juvenile justice
Bachelor's degree in counseling, psychology, sociology, social work, or a field applicable to the practice of juvenile justice
AND three (3) years of experience working with juveniles and families in the counseling and case management of juveniles and families
Associate's degree in criminal justice, counseling, psychology, sociology, social work, or field applicable to the practice of juvenile justice
AND five (5) years of supervised work experience in the counseling of juveniles and families
Seven (7) years of supervised work experience in the counseling of juveniles and families.
Must pass a Bilingual language test to demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly and concisely in Spanish, both orally and in writing.

Serve as a liaison among victims, Deputy District Attorneys, and Juvenile Counselors, including supporting trial and pretrial preparation.

$36.67 - $44.56 Hourly
Assist victims with restitution requests, documentation, Crime Victims' Compensation applications, and restorative dialogue referrals when appropriate.
Upon successfully passing the applicable proficiency assessment test in a selected language, employees will receive bilingual pay in the amount of five percent (5%) of their base pay rate, exclusive of any other incentive pay, or a flat rate of seventy-five dollars ($75) per pay period, whichever is greater.
