About the role

  • ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Shall provide and utilize instructional plans, strategies, methods, materials and techniques that best meet the needs of individual students.
  • Shall provide the leadership and direction of classroom assistants working with students.
  • Shall be responsible for the maintenance, disciplinary and instructional activities in the classroom and other school settings.

Responsibilities

  • Shall develop Behavioral Intervention Plans based on Functional Behavioral Assessments.

Requirements

  • Michigan teaching certificate with K-12 endorsement required.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with emotionally impaired children.
  • Ability to work successfully with students, parents, staff, community and advocacy groups.
  • Ability to work well with others as a team member in a work team environment.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 75 pounds.
  • Must have good references.
  • Must have a good attendance record.
  • Shall attend required workshops and in-services.
  • Shall have a strong understanding of positive behavioral supports.
