About the role
- Serving the needs of all families with young children, Carter's Inc. is the largest North American apparel retailer exclusively for babies and young children, encompassing Carter's, OshKosh B'gosh, Skip*Hop and Little Planet brands.
- The Backup Yard Driver is responsible for organizing the yard area to ensure trucks and trailers are ready for unloading, loading, and transport.
- This role typical reports into the Operations Supervisor and is based in our Stockbridge Distribution Center.
Responsibilities
- During non-backup days/shifts, employees in the Backup Yard Driver position are expected to perform the regular duties of the respective position.
- Maintain tracking log for trailer moves and dock assignments.
- Maintain tracking log of yard inventory.
- Support the Coordinator/Supervisor in all duties as assigned including all operational areas of the Distribution Center
- Perform other tasks as assigned, including general distribution warehouse functions.
Requirements
- Ability to lift to 50 pounds repetitively, scan with RF equipment, bend, twist, and be on your feet for shifts up to 12 hours long.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with others (Supervisors, Managers, and peers).
- Must be able to seal trailer.

Skills
- Efficiently handle tasks to include material handling and stock movement.
- A valid state-issued drivers' license and a good driving record.
- 1-2 years' experience operating equipment in an automated, fast-paced distribution environment preferred.
