About the role

  • The Equipment Operator - Overburden Removal is responsible for safely and efficiently removing soil, rock, and other materials that overlay limestone reserves within the quarry.
  • The operator plays a key role in maintaining a safe work environment while supporting overall site efficiency and compliance.
  • With over 20 operations across Indiana, US Aggregates has been a customer-focused, innovative provider of high-quality essential stone, sand and gravel used in road construction, site prep and utilities, agriculture and erosion control.

Nice to have

  • Load haul trucks efficiently while minimizing oversize, spillage, and cycle delays
  • Responsible for fueling, oiling, greasing equipment as well as understanding the equipment's safety manual
  • Follow all MSHA, company, and site-specific safety policies and procedures
  • Report hazards, near misses, equipment issues, and unsafe conditions immediately
  • Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and required training
  • Understand and follow all policies, procedures, and safety rules as applicable to facility, job function and equipment
  • Ability to travel to other sites in the area as needed
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to continuously growing in alignment with the Company's core values, competencies, and skills.

Skills

  • Follow written and verbal directions to complete assigned tasks on schedule
  • Read, write, and communicate in English & understand basic math
  • Working knowledge of US Aggregates Safety and Operating principles
  • Complete all applicable documentation, recordkeeping, and daily inventory
  • Participate in safety briefings, job briefings, and any other pass on information from team members, management, or customer
  • Must possess and exhibit excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently to get things done
  • Must have the ability to continuously stand or walk on level or uneven ground
  • Must have the ability to ascend and descend ladders and stairs
  • Must have the ability to bend, crouch and/or kneel at the waist or knees
  • Must have the ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up at least 50lbs
