About the role
- Form Energy is seeking an Industrial Engineer, Factory Modeling to serve as the analytical engine behind our manufacturing footprint.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain comprehensive factory simulation models (discrete-event, process flow) to predict throughput, identify bottlenecks, and optimize layout efficiency.
- Conduct detailed capacity analysis to validate factory concepts against production volume targets, supporting long-term capital planning and roadmap decisions.
- Collaborate with the Factory Design Team to refine facility layouts, specifically optimizing floorspace utilization, material flow, and logistics infrastructure.
- Partner with Automation Engineering to model the integration of automated systems into current workflows, evaluating the impact of technology changes on cycle times and labor requirements.
- Perform sensitivity analysis on key process variables (e.g., uptime, yield, setup time) to determine the robustness of factory design concepts under varying operational scenarios.
- Ability to effectively communicate quantitative insights to diverse stakeholders, influencing design choices with data.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in industrial engineering, manufacturing systems modeling, or simulation within a complex production environment.
- Proficiency in factory simulation software (e.g., FlexSim, AnyLogic, Arena, or similar) and advanced capacity modeling tools (Excel, Python, or SQL for data processing).
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
