About the role
- Five9 is seeking an experienced commercial attorney for our in-house Transactions Legal Team within the Legal and Compliance organization.
- In this role, you will be pivotal in enabling Five9's revenue growth by supporting the company's sales and commercial operations.
- Your work will focus on drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial agreements for our cloud center platform, AI-enabled services, data processing, and security offerings.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including master services, data processing, partner and reseller, business associate, vendor, end user license, confidentiality, and service level agreements.
- Partner closely with Sales, Operations, Product, Compliance, Procurement, and Finance teams to successfully close customer and partner transactions.
- Identify legal risks and provide balanced, pragmatic solutions that support business objectives while managing legal risk in a high-pressure, high-growth environment.
- A proactive approach to building relationships with internal clients.
Requirements
- Significant experience with negotiating SaaS, cloud, and other technology agreements.
- Experience addressing issues in telecommunications, data privacy, AI, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience managing multiple projects and negotiations simultaneously in a fast-paced demanding environment.
- Strong commercial judgment and ability to balance legal risk with business objectives.
- Experience supporting product teams with AI-enabled and data-driven technology products, features, and use.
- Familiarity with data privacy and regulatory frameworks relevant to enterprise SaaS platforms, including HIPAA, GDPR, SOC 2, and U.S. privacy laws (e.g., CCPA/CPRA).
- Working knowledge of standard business processes for cloud companies, including go-to-market strategy, customer experience management, and finance processes.
- Proficiency improving contract lifecycle management and legal operations within high-growth technology companies.
- The ideal candidate has strong commercial judgment, is energetic and highly organized, and thrives in a demanding, high volume sales environment without sacrificing quality.
- A collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset, and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Required
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
- Between seven and twelve years of combined of law firm and in-house legal department experience.
- Four or more years of in-house experience drafting and negotiating complex agreements in a high pressure technology sales environment.
