About the role
- Success in this role requires a strategic approach to organizing and directing work, scheduling staff, supervision and training of staff and establishing quality standards.
- As the Manager of Facilities Maintenance, this position oversees the daily operations of maintenance shops serving 22 residence halls and two apartment communities.
Responsibilities
- Maintains a thorough understanding of departmental and university policies and ensures staff receive appropriate training and guidance to consistently follow them.
- Develops and recommends alternative maintenance improvement procedures, and activities, or concerns.
- Monitor productivity of staff, develop training activities to enhance skills, and guide staff on their role.
- Under General supervision, the Manager Facilities Maintenance leads the daily operations of facilities and personnel.
- The manager provides leadership for maintenance supervisors and staff, ensures high‑quality facilities services, and supports a strong customer‑service approach for students and campus partners.
- The role coordinates after‑hours response needs, collaborates across departmental units to address issues and improve processes.
- This position assists the manager of building services with budget management and assumes responsibilities in their absence.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent and 5 years of related experience
- The ideal candidate will have a strong leadership track record, thrive in a team environment, execute with minimal supervision, and have excellent communication and customer service skills.
Nice to have
- Supervision or management experience
- preferably at least 2 of those years specifically with construction/maintenance staff
- Experience managing or supporting multi-unit living environments, with an emphasis on campus housing and student-focused service
- Experience assigning and prioritizing work orders
- Budget and financial allocation experience
- Project management experience
