About the role

  • Piaggio Fast Forward (PFF) is looking for a Mechanical Engineering machinist to join our team.
  • In this role, you will take ownership of the machine and assembly shop, ensuring it is well-maintained, organized, and stocked.

Responsibilities

  • Lathe work for precision steel drive shafts for prototyping purposes
  • Create basic carpentry structures for pseudo rooms / wall fixtures for robot behavioral studies based on sketches
  • Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition; General shop upkeep
  • Manage inventory of tools, hardware, shop supplies, etc.
  • Perform routine maintenance on shop equipment to ensure in good working order
  • You will work collaboratively with the Mechanical team for the in house prototyping of parts, create fixtures for the Design team, and support the Manufacturing team with part reworks or assembly fixtures.

Requirements

  • On a daily basis you will primarily be interacting with the Mechanical engineering team, therefore strong communication skills and ability to communicate technical part machining information are necessary.
  • Associate's degree or technical certificate in engineering technology, or a related field is preferred
  • High School diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree or technical certificate in engineering technology, or a related field is preferred

Skills

  • 5 years hands on experience in a machine shop or manufacturing environment preferred
  • Strong work ethic and a go-getter attitude; able to work independently
  • Eagerness and willingness to learn new skills and new tools
  • Ability to interpret 2D engineering drawings to ensure part compliance
  • CAD experience is a plus
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 70 pounds as well as stand for long periods of time
  • experience including but not limited to mills, lathes, laser cutter, drill press, bandsaw, dremel, jigsaw, sawsall
  • 2 - 5 years hands on experience in a machine shop or manufacturing environment preferred
  • Applicants will be asked to provide a portfolio or examples of projects completed.
  • (Responsibilities):
  • Daily work on the mill, lathe, metal saw, and precision measuring
  • Mill work for aluminum hog out parts or unique prototype to match drawing spec provided from engineering

Compensation

  • Salary Range: $35/hr-$38/hr

This is an hourly position for an individual contributor role reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager.
