This position plays a key role in helping students explore career pathways, gain practical experience, and prepare for successful job, internship, and transfer opportunities.
Through individual appointments, workshops, and events, the Specialist provides guidance in career exploration, resume and cover letter development, job and internship search strategies, networking, and interview preparation.

Must be enrolled at a credit granting institution or at a non-credit granting institution and must be carrying at least six semester (nine quarter) credits.
If enrolled at a non-credit granting institution or one that only offers one credit per class, the student must be taking two or more classes per semester/quarter.
Ability to take initiative to achieve tasks independently, but also work effectively as a team member
Strong organizational and time management skills, ability to set priorities, balance a workload, adhere to a schedule, and meet deadlines
Skills or experience in applying theories of student development in practice, preferably in the college or university setting
Familiarity with resume writing, job search strategies, or career development concepts
Experience using platforms such as Handshake, Navigate, or other CRM systems
Experience supporting or facilitating workshops, events, or student programming
Experience working with diverse and underserved populations

$20.20 - $24.02 hourly (This is the new range effective 7/1/2026)

Job Description
The Career Services Specialist supports the delivery of student-centered career development services and contributes to the daily operations of the Career Resource Center at North Hennepin Community College.
This position plays a key role in helping students explore career pathways, gain practical experience, and prepare for successful job, internship, and transfer opportunities.
Through individual appointments, workshops, and events, the Specialist provides guidance in career exploration, resume and cover letter development, job and internship search strategies, networking, and interview preparation.

At least two to three years of post-secondary education and must be in good academic standing
