Responsibilities
- The Direct Support Professional (DSP)/Job Coach is responsible for providing 1:1 support in individuals homes and workplaces, with a focus on achieving goals and building independence.
- Enrich and support the lives of the persons served while maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
- Assist with activities of daily living, including community-based supports and community outings based on interests.
- Provide one-on-one training and mentorship to caseload of individuals you support in their workplace and at home.
- Offer prompts, cues, and support to encourage skill development and independence.
Requirements
- Must have at least 1+ years of professional experience supporting individuals with intellectual developmental disabilities OR at least 6+ months as a job coach.
- Valid Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle is required.
- Ability to work independently and be resourceful to problem solve without direct supervision.
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must be able to provide references
- Must have at least 1+ years of experience supporting individuals with intellectual developmental disabilities OR at least six months of experience as a Job Coach
- Employees must be at least 18 years of age per Oregon State Administrative Rules
Skills
- Monitor and report progress, challenges, and work performance.
- Help the individual set and achieve goals; assist in overcoming personal barriers.
- Help clients communicate with employers and co-workers in the workplace.
- Help develop positive social, work, and life skills.
- Duties may periodically include personal care, medication, and mobility assistance.
- Other duties as assigned.
