- The Manager is equally responsible for growing a high-performing team and maintaining the trust of clients and internal stakeholders through transparent, reliable execution.
- Resource Planning & Hiring - Conduct hiring interviews and contribute to candidate assessment for engineering roles. - Assist with quarterly resource allocation planning across pods.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the delivery team to ensure on-time, on-scope delivery across all active projects.
- Lead or actively participate in cross-pod technical guilds (e.g., Frontend, AI/ML, DevOps).
- Provide timely, constructive feedback and support individual development plans.
- Manage end-to-end solution quality in partnership with pod leads, from design through deployment.
- Maintain a strong comms loop with the delivery team to keep project requirements aligned.
- Support pre-sales and business development by providing low-level solution architecture, demos, and technical Q&A on calls.
Requirements
- Experience managing and growing engineers across different levels.
- Comfortable engaging directly with clients and stakeholders-you can translate technical complexity into clear, confident communication.
- Familiarity with AI/ML solutions and modern MLOps or software delivery practices.
- A track record of championing responsible, ethical AI and inclusive team culture.
- AltaML employees, contractors, and associates must be trained and well-versed in the importance of Responsible AI and empowered to enact RAI principles by developing and deploying AI solutions.
- They should also be empowered to raise and escalate RAI concerns as required.
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a technical lead or management role.
- Demonstrated ability to drive architectural decisions and maintain engineering quality in a fast-paced delivery environment.
- This role requires a certain level of in-office presence, based out of our Toronto or Calgary office locations.
- Responsible AI (RAI)
- AltaML employees, contractors, and associates must be trained and well-versed in the importance of Responsible AI and empowered to enact RAI principles by developing and deploying AI solutions. They should also be empowered to raise and escalate RAI concerns as required.
