About the role

  • The SCADA Integration & Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, programming, implementing, and supporting automation systems used in hydraulic fracturing and related oilfield operations.
  • Configure and troubleshoot communication networks and protocols between field equipment, control systems, and client infrastructure.
  • Diagnose and resolve automation, controls, communication, and instrumentation issues in both office and field environments.

Responsibilities

  • This role develops PLC control logic, HMI interfaces, and SCADA applications to optimize equipment performance, improve operational visibility, and enhance process reliability.
  • The engineer will work closely with field personnel and clients to troubleshoot issues, perform system upgrades, and ensure seamless communication between company equipment and customer systems.
  • Develop, test, and implement PLC control programs based on process narratives, operational requirements, and equipment specifications.
  • Design and maintain intuitive Human Machine Interface (HMI) applications that improve operator effectiveness and system usability.
  • Expand, enhance, and support SCADA platforms to monitor equipment performance, collect operational data, and provide real-time analytics.
  • Conduct field and customer site visits to perform system installations, upgrades, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, and customer personnel to ensure automation systems meet operational requirements and performance expectations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for control systems, software revisions, communication architectures, and operational procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance automation performance, reliability, and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Technical Skills Proficiency in PLC programming and industrial automation systems.

Nice to have

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field
  • equivalent industry experience may be considered.
  • Experience supporting hydraulic fracturing fleets, pumping equipment, or oilfield service operations.
  • Experience with commissioning and startup of automated process control systems.

Skills

  • Proficiency in PLC programming and industrial automation systems.
  • Experience with the Inductive Automation platform (Ignition).
  • Strong knowledge of Modbus ASCII and Modbus RTU communication protocols.
  • Understanding of industrial networking, instrumentation, and control system integration.
  • Industry Knowledge Good understanding of Hydraulic Fracturing operations and related oilfield equipment.
  • Familiarity with field automation systems, remote monitoring, and data acquisition technologies.
  • Professional Skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues in high-pressure operational environments.
  • Commitment to maintaining safe work practices in both office and field environments.
