About the role

Our team transforms images of store shelves into real-time signals that power smarter inventory management.

As a Software Engineer II, you will design and build the backend systems that power this transformation.
You will own the pipelines and services that ingest large volumes of image data, orchestrate model inference, and convert raw predictions into reliable, actionable inventory signals.
Design and maintain robust pipelines that ingest, process, and transform large-scale image and metadata streams into structured inventory signals.
Develop and operate backend services that orchestrate model inference, post-process predictions, and expose high-quality data to downstream systems and partners.
Design data models and processing logic that translate raw model outputs into accurate, consistent, and interpretable inventory insights.
Build Scalable Data Pipelines: Design and maintain robust pipelines that ingest, process, and transform large-scale image and metadata streams into structured inventory signals.
Backend Service Development: Develop and operate backend services that orchestrate model inference, post-process predictions, and expose high-quality data to downstream systems and partners.
Data Modeling & Signal Quality: Design data models and processing logic that translate raw model outputs into accurate, consistent, and interpretable inventory insights.
ML Frameworks: An understanding of PyTorch or TensorFlow, with a track record of building and training custom architectures.

B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience), -

Strong proficiency in programming languages including C, C++, Java, Python, or Go

For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$171,000 per year - USD$190,000 per year.
The base salary range for this role is USD$171,000 per year - USD$190,000 per year.

A background in modern CV techniques (e.g., YOLO, Faster R-CNN, Vision Transformers, Siamese Networks) and image processing fundamentals.
You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp.
