Responsibilities

  • Expertise in writing processes and articulating complex concepts, especially within art and design contexts.
  • Demonstrates ability to guide students in developing precise, coherent, engaging written work.
  • Flexibility in scheduling and teaching methods to meet the changing needs of our student body, ensuring accessibility and support for every student.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in English, Creative Writing, Art History, or related fields
  • While performing the duties of job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk or hear.

Nice to have

  • A Master's degree or current enrollment in a relevant graduate program
  • TESOL/TEFL Certification or similar qualifications in ESL/EFL teaching methodologies
  • Background in living, studying, or working in multicultural environments, providing a deeper understanding of cross-cultural communication and engagement
  • Fluency in international languages, like Mandarin and/or Korean.

  • Must be able to commute to Baltimore campus for in-person tutoring shifts.

Compensation

  • $20k-$25k

  • Create an accessible learning environment, and partner with MICA's academic community to share strategies and insights that enhance student success.
  • Develop instructional materials for synchronous and asynchronous learning, such as in-class workshops and writing guides, as well as Writing Studio promotional materials.
  • Able to create tutoring materials and strategies that cater to various learning styles and needs.
