About the role

  • The retail pharmacist is responsible for all facets of the medication order verification, dispensing and documentation process for all prescriptions received for processing in the retail pharmacy.
  • Responsible for accuracy of all dispensed prescriptions.
  • Responsible for directly overseeing the preparation and dispensing of all prescriptions received by the pharmacy, including supervision of certified pharmacy technicians during preparation of said prescriptions.

Responsibilities

  • Pharmacist will verify all prescription information, perform patient drug regimen and utilization review, insure an absence of known drug interactions, as well as counsel all patients.
  • The pharmacist shall document such occurrences and make all necessary adjustments as authorized by the prescribing physician.
  • Maintain and generate patient reports and records using the current pharmacy computer system.
  • Contribute to the effective operation of the pharmacy department, organize and prioritize work assignments, manage workflow, and assist the technician(s) with all aspects of the pharmacy operations.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with telephone, copier, facsimile machine, computer equipment and software (Microsoft Word and Excel).
  • common severe side/adverse effects, interactions, and therapeutic contraindications that may be encountered, including their avoidance, and the action required if they occur
  • The pharmacist will practice with a high degree of autonomy, guided by policy and procedures and quality assurance verification guidelines.
  • Education: Graduate of an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy. Licenses: Current State of Texas Pharmacy license Experience: Two years of pharmacy experience, retail pharmacy experience preferred, knowledge of medications involved with oncology and/or chemotherapy preferred.
  • Familiarity with telephone, copier, facsimile machine, computer equipment and software (Microsoft Word and Excel). Bilingual recommended
