About the role
- We are currently seeking a Senior Geologist to join our Mines Technical Services team at Totten Mine in Sudbury.
- This is a permanent position covered under the Collective Agreement between Vale and the Local 2020-05 United Steelworkers.
- Plan, execute, and evaluate exploration and resource definition drilling programs aligned with operational and strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
- The successful candidate will provide technical guidance to junior geologists, support continuous improvement initiatives, and promote a strong safety culture.
- Additionally, in this position you will: Lead grade control, ore delineation, metals accounting, dilution control, and ore loss minimization activities to support production performance.
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve geological models, mineralized wireframes, and geological interpretations to support resource development and mine planning.
- Integrate geological, drilling, sampling, assay, and production data to support resource evaluation, reconciliation, and operational decision-making.
- Collaborate with Operations, Technical Services, and Exploration teams to support short-, medium-, and long-term mine planning and identify geological risks and opportunities.
- Mentor and develop junior geologists and technicians while driving innovation, continuous improvement, and a strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
Requirements
- Registration as a Professional Geoscientist with PGO (Professional Geoscientists of Ontario) is required.
- The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of five years of progressive relevant experience in an underground mining environment.
- Employees engaged by the Company must be lawfully able to work for the Company in the country where the role is located.
