About the role

  • Hoffberger School of Painting MFA program of Maryland Institute College of Art invites applications for this full-time faculty position with a one-year non-renewable contract in a non-tenure institution beginning Fall 2026.
  • Job Description: This faculty member will teach eighteen credits per year (typically, 9 per semester) in the graduate program.

Responsibilities

  • Submit one multi-page PDF document that includes letter of application, comprehensive CV, portfolio of 20 images of professional creative work, and names and contact information including address, phone and email for three references.
  • Any additional media (MOV, MP3, etc.) should be formatted for Apple computers and have representative still image and description information in PDF portfolio document.
  • Please format PDF documents for screen resolution and viewing.

Requirements

  • MFA degree or equivalent professional experience in painting or related field
  • Experience critiquing advanced students
  • Evidence of ability to work with colleagues across disciplinary boundaries
  • While performing the duties of a job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk or hear.

  • Demonstrated ease with social media, digital networking, writing, and presentation
  • Experience working with students with varied abilities and from a range of cultural backgrounds

Compensation

  • $65,000 - $80,000.
