About the role
- Xos is seeking a dynamic Senior Accountant, Payroll and General Accounting who brings strong expertise in managing payroll operations with accuracy and compliance.
- As a key member of the Finance and Accounting team, this role is responsible for overseeing end-to-end payroll processing while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- The ideal candidate has deep payroll knowledge, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with HR policies and payroll regulations, implementing best practices to maintain payroll integrity.
- Collaborate with People Operations and Finance teams to resolve payroll discrepancies and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to ensure payroll accuracy and prevent errors.

Requirements
- Proven experience, preferably 3+ years, in payroll processing and accounting.
- Bachelor's of Accounting or similar field.
- Strong knowledge of payroll systems, tax regulations, and accounting principles.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Google Suite and Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The salary range for this role is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Xos Inc. reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee's pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including not but limited to, job-related knowledge, skillset, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, geographic location, and other business or organizational factors.The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
- California (Los Angeles Metropolitan): $80,000 - $95,000 annual base salary
- Physical Demands
- This is primarily a sedentary role that requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer, and attending virtual or in-person meetings. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Employees may experience extended screen time and are frequently required to speak or listen. Minimal physical exertion, through occasional movement within the office may be required.
Nice to have
- Multi-state payroll processing experience preferred.
- Proficiency in payroll and ERP software systems (Rippling HRIS, Netsuite preferred).
