About the role

  • Additionally, we leverage the extensive network of 25 JSI offices around the world, allowing us to access their technical and operational expertise.
  • Specific responsibilities Ensure trial balances are reviewed on a monthly basis, abnormalities investigated, and resolution recommendations provided as necessary.
  • Review project-based reconciliations for all bank accounts and asset and liability reconciliations, as well as accrued & accounts payable accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Accounting Lead

  • The Accounting Lead is responsible for providing direction and support to the accounting unit processes.
  • The Accounting Lead is expected to manage the monthly close process including journal entries, reviews, and reconciliations of general ledger accounts.
  • The Lead is also responsible for providing detailed analysis and reporting of expenses to the Finance/Accounting and other PFSCM Units.
  • The Accounting Lead is expected to identify continuous improvement opportunities and direct and manage accounting administration within the Finance & Accounting Team.
  • The Lead is responsible for team performance on key performance indicators and staff management, development, support, and coaching of Staff Accountants and accounting-related positions.
  • Serve as an approver for all accounting-related documents in the accounting system.
  • Manage the monthly closing process by analyzing accounts and preparing adjusting journal entries.
  • Lead financial audits, including preparing various audit schedules.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or other relevant field required.
  • CPA is required.
  • 8+ years' of accounting experience, including using a computerized accounting system.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States of America.
  • English fluency required, including speaking, writing, understanding, and reading.
  • Previous client relations or customer service experience required.
  • Experience with continuous improvement initiatives and change management activities.
  • Ability to approach a problem from different cultural perspectives
  • resourcefulness, initiative, maturity of judgement, and the ability to make sound decisions under pressing conditions.
  • Professional and Technical Knowledge
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or other relevant field required. CPA is required.
  • Strong action management, including the ability to manage projects in the most cost-efficient manner, resourcefulness, initiative, maturity of judgment, and the ability to make sound decisions under pressing conditions.
  • Advanced computing skills in standard software systems, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Willingness and availability to travel and perform other duties as needed.
  • Interpersonal skills/Communication
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills with strong sense of customer service. English fluency required, including speaking, writing, understanding, and reading.
  • Experience successfully managing external relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders in multi-cultural environments and in diverse locations internationally, including governments and the donor community.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills
  • solution oriented with a high sense of quality, attention to detail, accuracy, efficiency, and meeting tight deadlines.

Nice to have

  • Experience with international donor agencies or government is a plus.
