About the role

  • The Welder will utilize various welding processes to set up welders and weld vertically and horizontally with satisfactory results using aluminum and/or steel at standard rates.
  • Operate and set up MIG (GMAW) and TIG (GTAW) welding equipment to join and fabricate steel and aluminum components.
  • Check and adjust machine settings to ensure that the part is fabricated correctly according to specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Support Dee Zee's environmental policies with proactive process implementation, improvement suggestions, reducing waste while acting on environment performance results and findings.
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with 6S procedures, rules and regulations and take proper care of all equipment and facilities.

Requirements

  • Ability to use measuring equipment (calipers, tape measures, and angle gauges).
  • Ability to effectively work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency.
  • Ability to operate small grinding equipment (right angle grinder, pencil grinder, belt sander, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and/or drawings to determine the specific welding requirements.
  • Ability to read and understand written work instructions.
  • Ability to recognize when a weld meets Dee Zee and customer acceptance criteria.
  • Must be willing and able to work in an environment exposed to elements that can include but are not limited to coolant, dust, mist, elevated noise, and uncontrolled temperatures.
  • Ability to stop the production line and/or prevent shipment of products due to nonconformance or potential nonconforming products to our customers.
  • High level of attention to detail and focus on the given task.

Nice to have

  • 1+ year experience with MIG and TIG welding preferred.
  • High School Graduate or GED, required
  • Associate Degree or Wedling Certification preferred.
