About the role
- The Medical Assistant is responsible for a variety of patient care, technical, and clerical related functions under the direct supervision of the physician and practice manager.
- Responsible for the clinic patient flow by assisting members of the patient care team and providing a wide range of health care services while supporting quality and safe care.
Responsibilities
- Follows insurance carrier guidelines and Medicare regulations. Maintains a working knowledge of ICD9 and CPT coding and seeks assistance as needed. Obtains prior authorizations when needed. Schedules tests and specialist visits within network limitations.
- Supports productivity goals to maximize use of facility resource to meet patient demand. Maximize physician visits so that productivity targets are met. Assists and contributes to meet quality measures for the organization.
- May float to other clinics as needed to support operational needs.
- May be asked to Float to other practices within the region providing support as needed.
- Acts as a liaison between physician and patient, by providing support and comfort to patients and families during clinic visits and procedures as needed, including chaperoning during sensitive examinations.
- Manages patient expectations with clear explanations (i.e., informing patients about delays as appropriate) and effectively manages the providers' patient schedules.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED, High school or equivalent (Required)
- Education
- Program Graduate, Medical Assistant (Required)
- Experience
- Licenses and Certifications
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) within 1 Year(Preferred) or
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Medical Technologists (AMT) within 1 Year(Preferred)
- CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required)

- $18.90 - $24.60/HourlyActual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.
- Maintains excellent clinical competency by adhering to the standard clinical expectations for Riverside Medical Group.
- Maintains medical inventory of supplies and keeps exam rooms stocked appropriately.
- Ensures compliance with healthcare regulations with scope of practice, HIPAA, and OSHA standards.
- Completes all required competencies and education to maintain skill level to provide safe patient care.
