About the role
- Job Purpose As a Medical Simulation Operator, you will set up, operate, and troubleshoot simulation equipment while facilitating realistic training scenarios.
- Your expertise will directly contribute to improving medical readiness and battlefield trauma response.
- Timeframe: This position is temporary while an existing Simulation Operator is deployed.
Responsibilities
- Operate, maintain, and debrief simulation-related audio-video recording systems.
- Coordinate and provide support for student logistics, and administrative support needs. Assist the Program Administrator with coordination of simulation site travel requirements and with post-trip report tracking, documentation, and follow up actions.
- Support the creation of troubleshooting documents, simulator checklists, and simulation lesson plans/scenarios for simulation equipment.
- Perform duties as the technical trainer and resource liaison in activities related to simulation operations.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute the support of designated conferences, conventions, and workshops, to include logistics, budgeting, and registration.
- Contribute to the design, development, testing, and implementation of training materials and scenarios.
- Be prepared to provide support as needed to MMS TPOC with the above requirements.
- Coordinate and provide support for student logistics, and administrative support needs.
- Ensure reasonable timeliness of response, from time of customer request for operational/corporate support/assistance - response within 3 business days and resolution of issues within 30 calendar days.
Requirements
- Ideal Candidate:
- Program management must be notified of any deviation from this schedule prior to a missing suspense.
- Minimum Education & Experience:
- Associate degree or higher in Healthcare, Education, or a related technical field.
- Relevant Military Occupational Specialties (MOS):
- Army: 68W (Combat Medic), 18D (Special Operations Medical Sergeant)
- Navy: HM (Hospital Corpsman)
- Air Force: 4N0X1 (Aerospace Medical Service)
- Marine Corps: HM assigned to Marine units
- Coast Guard: HS (Health Services Technician)
- 3+ years as a simulation technician/trainer (healthcare simulation experience preferred).
- Ability to troubleshoot and maintain complex simulation equipment.
Nice to have
- Prior military medic with combat or deployment experience.
- Technically skilled in simulation equipment & training facilitation.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork abilities.
- Prior service as a U.S. Armed Forces medic strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in simulation technologies (human patient simulators, task trainers, VR systems).
- Experience leading train-the-trainer programs and providing constructive feedback.
- Work at designated simulation site with travel as necessary.
- Prior deployment experience (Iraq, Afghanistan, or similar) is a plus.
Benefits
- Facilitate medical simulation training and shall be responsible for operating part-task trainers, mannequin-based simulators, surgical simulators, and cadavers (site specific cases).
- This work shall support Military Health System (MHS) medical simulation activities.
- Be responsible for setting up simulation supplies/equipment in support of training scenarios targeted to meet identified learning objectives.
