About the role

  • This position requires regular interaction with the public and close coordination with law enforcement, fire, EMS, and towing services to ensure roadway safety and efficient incident response.
  • The role may involve exposure to traumatic scenes, situations, and environments.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct scheduled trips to deliver and retrieve paperwork, transport vehicles and equipment for deployment or repair, and follow up on vehicle or project status to minimize service disruptions.
  • Provide comprehensive traffic incident services, including removal of lane‑blocking hazards, coordination and assistance with emergency and support responders, and implementation of traffic control and scene protection measures using cones, flares, signs, flagging, and emergency lighting.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must successfully complete all required pre-employment screenings, including a background investigation, psychological evaluation, polygraph examination, drug testing, physical examination, and driving record review
  • City ordinances, the penal code, traffic laws, and departmental policies, or the ability to learn and apply them
  • Laws, policies, and procedures, and the ability to read, interpret, and apply them appropriately
  • Impound abandoned vehicles and property in accordance with established procedures, ensuring proper placement into the property impound system and completion of all required property, transfer, and incident reports.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
