About the role

  • This includes, but is not limited to, the preparation, packaging and delivery of medications for both inpatients and outpatients.
  • Assists in the preparation, packaging, labeling and delivery of medications.
  • Prepares all forms of medication (e.g.: oral, rectal, IV solutions, and syringes) for Hospital patients in accordance with the policies and procedures at CHW.

Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of a staff pharmacist, the technician is responsible for providing technical support to pharmacists at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin.
  • Prepares and delivers unit dose medication cassettes to their respective units.

Requirements

  • State of Wisconsin required
  • Is able to meet any required competencies per USP 797 guidelines.
  • License Pharmacy Technician (41) - State of Wisconsin required

Nice to have

  • Graduate of a pharmacy tech program preferred
  • 1+ years experience in a pharmaceutical environment preferred
  • Good interpersonal and customer relations skills are needed to communicate effectively with various hospital personnel and families and to gather and exchange factual pharmaceutical information.
  • Ability to work well under pressure due to time constraints and varying workloads.
  • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate a computer in order to generate lists, process medication orders, enter charges/credits, generate labels, retrieve patient information, and handle automated dispensing unit functions.
