About the role
- We are hiring three (3) Counsellor/case managers, one for each location.
- The Counsellor/Case Manager will be integrated into the on-site shelter team and will work collaboratively with clients and the care team.
Responsibilities
- You will be responsible for providing counselling support to clients residing in the shelters, offering group counselling sessions and providing training for shelter staff amongst other responsibilities.
- A Peer Mentor will also be assigned to support the service and there will be ongoing evaluation.
- Collaborate with clients to develop evidence-informed care plans, including holistic crisis and communication plans.
Requirements
- Knowledge of evidence-based treatment methodologies for addiction, including cognitive behavioural therapy and motivational interviewing.
- Proficiency in non-violent crisis intervention techniques and CPR/First Aid.
- Knowledge and/or experience working in a harm reduction framework Relevant experience (2 years) working in a shelter or transitional housing setting an asset
Skills
- evidence-based, trauma-informed counselling skills Training/experience administering Naloxone preferred Language
- Proficiency in prevalent languages in the Region of Peel and French considered a strong asset.
- Transportation: Valid Ontario Driver's License, insurance, and reliable vehicle required.
- 35-hour work week; Mon - Fri 8:30 am- 4:30 pm.
