About the role

  • As a Cryogenics Engineer (f/m/d), you will play a pivotal role in designing, modeling, and optimizing advanced cryogenic thermal and fluid systems for commercial-scale fusion energy solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end simulation and analysis function for cryogenic thermal and fluid systems-from problem definition through model development, validation, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead analytical approaches for new and undefined challenges, applying first-principles research to create pioneering solutions.
  • Drive model validation through close collaboration with experimental engineers, comparing simulation outputs to test data, and closing performance gaps.
  • Develop integrated thermal and fluid analysis packages for commercial-scale system development, conducting optimization and sensitivity studies as needed.
  • Partner closely with hardware engineers, experimentalists, and scientists to define system requirements and deliver actionable analyses for design.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with hydrogen systems, vacuum systems, cryogenic technologies, and phase change in solids, liquids, and gases.
  • If you are excited about advancing clean energy and eager to make impact on a groundbreaking technology, we encourage you to apply.

Nice to have

  • 3-5 years' experience (or equivalent PhD research) in integrated thermal and fluid analysis involving cryogenic systems (experience with hydrogen is preferred).
  • Hands-on experience with test rig construction, system debugging, and low-temperature measurements to support model validation is a plus.

Skills

  • Company Overview
  • Focused Energy is the leading laser-driven fusion company, dedicated to creating clean, limitless fusion power.

Compensation

  • Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
