About the role

  • It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws.
  • Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission.
  • Description of Work Reporting to the Special Operations Investigative Supervisor (Field Operations), this position will serve as a member of the US Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force.

Responsibilities

  • Working with law enforcement partners to track, locate, and apprehend violent fugitives.
  • Developing investigations through use of confidential informants
  • Information provided must support responses to supplemental questions.

Requirements

  • Must be certified by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards Commission.
  • Must be able to obtain security clearance and must be able to be sworn in by the partner agency.

  • Conducting research from available US Marshal Services (USMS) databases, surveillance, interview and interrogation of offenders.
  • supervising a caseload of Community Supervision absconders that have absconded after being convicted and placed under supervision for violent crimes.
  • Providing security for highly publicized court appearances
