- In this role, you will serve as a legal advisor to the business, independently drafting, negotiating, and managing a broad portfolio of commercial agreements with our agent network, carriers, and vendors.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain standard contract templates, playbooks, and negotiation guidelines to scale the contracting process.
- Partner with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Operations, and Finance, to structure deals that balance legal risk with business objectives.
- Manage multiple high-priority matters simultaneously, including research, litigation management, and transactional matters, while adjusting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Provide additional support to the legal department as needed.
- Using the power of innovative technology solutions, we create seamless connections for shippers and carriers while delivering exceptional customer experiences.
- Behind the scenes, our team of over 300 corporate employees provides unwavering support, ensuring that everyone involved in the logistics process receives the care and attention they deserve.
- You will report directly to the General Counsel and partner closely with leadership across the organization.
Requirements
- Minimum of three years of relevant legal experience in contract drafting and negotiation, either in-house or at a law firm.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to explain legal concepts clearly to non-legal stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound legal discretion with minimal supervision.
- Our ideal candidate is a licensed attorney who is an intrinsically motivated self-starter with strong business acumen and a collaborative mindset.
Nice to have
- Active license to practice law and in good standing (North Carolina bar admission preferred or eligibility for admission by comity/reciprocity).
- Logistics, transportation, supply chain, or employment law experience preferred, but not required.
- Employment law experience is a plus.
