Responsibilities
- Serve as a lead individual contributor, personally building and shipping critical product features across the frontend and backend.
- Develop user-facing experiences with attention to UI architecture, performance, and accessibility.
- Collaborate closely with product managers and designers, actively contributing ideas, tradeoffs, and technical perspectives.
- Work with platform engineers and data partners to ensure product behavior aligns with real-world data and customer expectations.
- Drive high standards for code quality, documentation, and engineering excellence through direct technical contribution and mentorship.
- Deliver reliable, maintainable software that advances First Street's mission to connect climate and financial risk
- Experience building and integrating with APIs.
- We've assembled leading climate scientists and economists to develop transparent, peer-reviewed methodologies to calculate the past, present, and future climate risk for and asset classes spanning real estate, infrastructure, and companies.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional partners such as product managers and designers.
Requirements
- Professional experience working as a software engineer on production systems.
- Comfort working across the stack, even if your background leans frontend or backend.
- Ability to debug complex systems and reason about issues across frontend, backend, and data layers.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience working and managing engineering teams.
- Experience working in product-driven engineering environments.
- Familiarity with GraphQL and modern frontend data-fetching patterns.
- Experience debugging or working with data-heavy or geospatial systems.
- Prior experience in roles that required close collaboration with non-engineering stakeholders.
