Responsibilities

  • Lead and support refinery process safety programs, providing technical safety and engineering expertise across PHA/HAZOP, LOPA, MAH, and Management of Change (MOC).
  • Drive continuous improvement of process safety systems, workflows, and assurance mechanisms to ensure consistent and effective implementation.
  • Lead or support incident investigations and root cause analyses, identifying lessons learned and preventing recurrence of major incidents.
  • Partner with site leadership and HSE leadership to identify and mitigate key risks, advance safety systems, and set, measure, and analyze occupational and process safety performance goals.
  • Cenovus Energy is seeking a Senior Process Safety Engineer to lead the process safety initiatives to support a zero-harm work environment by mitigating risk and coordinating with cross-functional stakeholders to address process safety issues at our Superior, WI refinery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Chemistry, Science, or Safety/Environmental Discipline
  • 12+ years' experience in process engineering, technical safety, or process safety engineering in oil and gas or chemicals
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating MOC, HAZOP/PHA, and LOPA
  • Experience in contractor safety, auditing, and emergency response
