Responsibilities
- Manage, grow, and hire for a team of platform and infrastructure engineers - and mentor ICs to continuously raise the technical bar
- Own the roadmap for your domain, define ambitious goals, and reliably deliver against them
- Build and operate the systems that power the software development lifecycle - build systems, CI/CD, developer tooling, deployment automation - with high reliability, observability, and performance
- Improve engineering and researcher productivity by building well-designed platform abstractions, standardizing workflows, and reducing infrastructure friction
- Partner across infrastructure, security, research, and engineering to ensure seamless integration
Requirements
- Computer Science degree or equivalent practical experience
- 2+ years of engineering management experience
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Demonstrated experience managing and mentoring engineering teams
- Proven ability to attract, hire, and retain exceptional engineering talent
- Strong programming experience in Python, Go, C++, or similar
- Experience operating critical systems with high reliability requirements
- Ability to dive deep technically while maintaining a strategic view of platform architecture
- Experience operating critical systems with high reliability and availability requirements
Nice to have
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or similar) alongside on-prem systems
- Experience with large monorepos, Bazel or similar build systems
- Experience improving developer productivity at scale
- Experience with CI/CD systems or internal platform engineering
- Experience optimizing cloud resource usage or managing cloud cost efficiency at scale
- Experience leading teams through cloud adoption or infrastructure modernization
