About the role
- Wofford College is seeking professional, service-oriented individuals to join the Campus Safety Department as a Campus Safety Officer on the Night Shift.
- Campus Safety Officers serve as armed security officers licensed through the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) and play a critical role in protecting students, faculty, staff, visitors, and college property.
- Campus Safety Officers work closely with students, faculty, staff, visitors, local law enforcement, emergency medical services, and fire personnel to ensure a safe and secure campus environment 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Responsibilities
- Campus Safety Officers are expected to maintain the highest standards of:
- Maintain positive public relations while representing the Campus Safety Department and Wofford College.
- Maintain accountability and operational readiness of assigned equipment.
- Follow officer safety procedures and maintain situational awareness at all times.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors, Sergeants, or the Director of Campus Safety.
- The college community supports 19 NCAA Division I athletics teams and numerous student organizations, including honor societies, professional organizations, faith-based organizations, Greek life, and club sports.

Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- South Carolina voter registration card (required for SLED licensing).
- Ability to legally possess and carry a firearm.
- Ability to successfully pass all required background investigations and screening requirements.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, overtime assignments, and special events.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in stressful and rapidly evolving situations.
- Serve as dispatcher relief personnel when required.
Nice to have
- Prior military service.
- Prior law enforcement experience.
- Associate's degree or higher.
- Current public safety certifications.
- Required Employment Screening

- Criminal background investigation.
- Driver's license and driving record review.
